The Mission: 
Create an Avian Sanctuary centered around the needs, wants, and environment of Arizonas state bird, the Cactus Wren.
CActus Wren are social creatures, nesting in football shaped nests placed in between the arms of cacti. Their nests tend to be 3-10 feet off the ground and have 1-2 inch entrance holes.
Keeping this information in mind, The process of creating an avian sanctuary tailored to the cactus wren begins.
Sketches - inspired by ruins found in Sonoran desert. They include protective shells, wooden lattices, and room for airflow. 
LOW FIDELITY ITERATIONS - Made out of easy to find materials, meant to express main elements of each design.
rendered iterations - The top iteration features a sharp wedge that can be placed in between the arms of cacti or a tree, Similar to how cactus wren nest. The bottom iteration features a cradle the bird can build a nest in.
high fidelity mockup - made out of wood,  created to understand how the product sits in space. changes are made before final.
PRODUCTION - Built in DAAPS build lab. Utilized band saws, table saws, belt sanding.
