preface:
This project focused on developing a foundational understanding of woodworking, Design being used as the framework. The project worked as a vehicle to explore form, joinery, material, and fabrication.

Form visualization
Sketching was utilized to develop form within the constraints of post and beam, post and slab, and post and rung architecture to ensure the design remained realistic.

digital explorations

learning process
Initial cuts & prep
table components were rough cut, using a full scale technical drawing to guide proportions build before assembly.

tabletop production
A flat tabletop was produced from two planks using the jointer and planer to achieve consistent thickness.

leg fabrication
Leg components were shaped using a combination of hand planing, band saws, router tables, and table saws to ensure flat and accurate surfaces.

joinery
Structural connections were achieved using screws with bored pilot holes alongside Domino joinery for efficient strength.

finishing touches
Final refinement included hand sanding and the application of a routed bevel to soften edges.
